One cookie. Sort of.
This policy lists, with the exact technical names, what tracera.eu stores in your browser. Spoiler: it's almost nothing, because Tracera is a cookieless analytics company — dogfooding our own product wouldn't be very convincing if we sprayed third-party trackers on our own site.
1. What counts as a "cookie"
A "cookie" is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store and send back on the next visit. Modern websites also use related technologies like localStorage and sessionStorage, which behave similarly. We use "cookie" here to cover all of these, as required by the Belgian Code of Economic Law and the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended).
2. The complete list, today
| Name | Type | Category | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| tracera_consent_v1 | localStorage | Strictly necessary | Until you clear browser storage | Remembering your "Got it" click on the cookie notice so we don't show it on every page load. |
That is the entire list. No analytics, no advertising, no fingerprinting, no session-replay. Strictly necessary cookies are legally exempt from prior consent (Art. 129 §1, 2° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law).
3. What about the Tracera tracker itself?
Tracera is an analytics platform. When one of our customers installs the Tracera tracker on their site (not this one), here is exactly what the tracker does in your browser:
- It loads a single small JavaScript file (under 3 KB gzipped) from the customer's own domain.
- It sends one event per pageview to an EU-hosted endpoint with: the page URL, the referrer, the viewport size, the language, and a server-side-derived country/region.
- It does not set a cookie, write to localStorage, or otherwise store an identifier in your browser. Nothing.
- Visitor uniqueness on the server side is a daily-rotating salted hash that becomes unrecoverable after 24 hours.
That is why we are confident that the Tracera tracker, used by our customers on their sites, does not require a cookie banner under EU law.
4. What we will never use
- Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager.
- Meta Pixel / Facebook Conversions API.
- TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter/X tracking.
- Hotjar, FullStory, or any session-replay tool.
- Anything that profiles, fingerprints, or sells data to third parties.
5. Third-party calls this page does make
| Service | Why | Cookies set? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Loading the Instrument Serif + Schibsted Grotesk + JetBrains Mono webfonts | No cookies are set by the Fonts service. Your IP is briefly visible to Google during the font request. We are migrating to self-hosted fonts to remove even this single third-party call. |
6. Changing or withdrawing your choice
- Click Cookie preferences in the footer, or right here.
- Or clear your browser's
localStoragefor tracera.eu. The banner will appear again on your next visit.
7. Legal basis
The strictly-necessary tracera_consent_v1 entry is exempt from prior consent under Art. 129 §1, 2° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law (transposing Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC, as amended). All other categories require your explicit, freely given, informed and unambiguous consent before being activated — and since there are no other categories, no such consent is needed today.
